Americana/ClassicCountry/Cajun/Zydeco- Albuquerque, NM

The High Desert Playboys are one of Albuquerque's best known americana bands. They have been delighting audiences throughout New Mexico with their lively dance sets since 2016. They play a unique blend of original and modern americana, high energy bluegrass, classic country, country gospel, western swing, cajun and zydeco standards.

Led by singer/songwriter Clark Andrew Libbey, currently an artist on Slow Start Records (Dallas, TX), and Kristen Rad, one of the areas most sought after electric violinists, they are comprised of some of the best americana and country musicians in the Albuquerque. Known for strong, soulful vocals, delicate harmonies, exceptional instrumentation and catchy hooks, they have become a fixture in the brewery, farmer's market and festival scenes. Their latest album "Ticker Tape Parade", recorded at the nationally renowned Rio Grande Studios, was released on Slow Start Records in 2022.

Additionally, Clark and Kristen have been barnstorming the Southwest as a duo for the last 4 years. Building off their harmony vocals, and Kristen's soaring leads on violin, their acoustic sets give the listener an intimate look into Clark's deeply imaginative pallet of original stories and lyrics. He mines his often off-kilter stories from a world of his own creation, one replete with trauma, heartbreak, triumphant accomplishments and anthemic moments, both wonderful and tragic. Drawing from a rich landscape of characters, he specializes in boiling down strong metaphors and universal truths into catchy, enchanting melodies. As regular performers in small towns throughout the mountains of New Mexico, they committed last year to pursuing music full time, and are quickly finding their niche in the Land of Enchantment. Their latest single and video, a duo version of the classic song “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”, also recorded at Rio Grande Studios,  is out now on Slow Start Records.
